Mother Hawthorne Declared Venerable!

The foundress of the Dominican Sisters of Hawthorne, Venerable Rose Hawthorne OP (Mother Mary Alphonsa) was recently declared Venerable by Pope Francis. While a nurse at the now Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, she was encouraged by Rev. Clement Thuente OP–a priest at St. Catherine’s and later Prior at St. Vincent’s Priory–to become a Dominican Tertiary. Learn more about her at
