Tuesdays, September 17 – October 8 – Parish Study: The Psalms
Join us for a Parish Study on the Book of Psalms! The Psalms are the prayers of Israel to the God who called them out of Egypt, called them out of darkness, and transformed them by his light so that they, in turn, might make his holiness present to the world. The Psalms, as a whole, express all the many ways in which we, human beings, approach God and try to learn where we fit in his plan for creation. Who is God for us? Who and what are we before God? They express awe at the marvels of his creation; they call out to him in times of need, in times of illness, in sorrow for sins, as a source of wisdom and moral guide, as individuals, and as the believing community as a whole.
Our Parish Study will take place on Tuesday evenings from September 17 to October 8 at 6:45 PM in the Lower Church at St. Vincent’s, and Fr. Albert Paretsky, a Biblical scholar, will be leading the study. Dianne Bergant’s “Psalms” (in 2 volumes) will be a helpful resource for this, too. You can find the Amazon links for both volumes on our website, svsc.info.
