February 11 – Memorial of Our Lady of Lourdes and the World Day of the Sick

Saturday, February 11 is the Memorial of Our Lady of Lourdes and the World Day of the Sick.  There will be a Sung Mass at 12 noon at St. Catherine of Siena, and a light reception will follow in St. Dominic Hall.

Many of our Dominican Friars serve as chaplains in the hospitals surrounding St. Catherine of Siena through the Dominican Healthcare Ministry.  Every Thursday, these chaplains sponsor a Holy Hour following the 5:15 pm Mass at St. Catherine of Siena at which we pray for the sick and those who care for them.

As Catholics, it is our duty to pray for the sick: kindness (benignity) is a Fruit of the Holy Spirit which may be expressed by visiting the sick (a Corporal Work of Mercy) and praying for the afflicted (a Spiritual Work).  Consider joining us for Mass and Holy Hour or offering a private prayer for those sick.
