January 21 – Saturday Midday Retreat with the Mystics: William of St. Thierry

On Saturday, January 21, 12 Noon to 3 pm, in St. Catherine of Siena Church, we’ll continue our Midday Retreat with the Mystics, focusing on William of St. Thierry (1085-1148).  William was the best friend of St. Bernard and is the most quoted author in the Statutes of the Carthusian Order.  He wrote much on contemplation and love and will help us do what he so aspired to: “May I love Him whom to love is to live indeed.”

Fr. Ignatius John Schweitzer, OP will give a conference talk on William, followed by Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and guided meditations from his writings.  A social gathering will follow along with the opportunity to be anointed with St. Elizabeth of the Trinity oil.
