December 8 – Immaculate Conception – A Holy Day of Obligation

Thursday, December 8 is the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a Holy Day of Obligation and the Patronal Feast of the United States.  There will be a Solemn Mass at 6 pm at St. Vincent Ferrer for which the Schola Cantorum will sing Missa in G minor, Op. 187; Alma Redemptoris Mater, Op. 171, No. 2; and Ave maris stella, Op. 171, No. 4 by Josef Rheinberger.

In addition to the regular weekday Mass and Confession schedule, there will be a 1 pm Low Mass at St. Catherine of Siena.  

The evening Masses on Wednesday, December 7 will be for the Vigil of the Solemnity and will satisfy the obligation.

The Act of Total Consecration to Jesus Christ through Mary will be made after Thursday’s 5:15 pm Mass at St. Catherine of Siena.
