August 2-8 – Celebrations of St. Dominic
Our Holy Father Dominic, the founder of the Order of Preachers, died on August 6, 1221. To mark the 801st Anniversary, the Parish will have several days worth of special celebrations.
Thursday, August 4, there will be a Mass in the Dominican Rite at 7 PM at St. Vincent Ferrer for which the Schola Cantorum will sing Missa de Beata Maria by Tomás Luis de Victoria.
Monday, August 8 there will be a Solemn Mass and Procession at 6 PM at St. Vincent Ferrer for which the Schola will sing Missa Brevis by Grayston Ives; Haec dies by Charles Wood; and Salve Regina, Op. 9, No. 4 by Herbert Howells, all music of 20th century Britain. Reception to follow.
From August 2–8, the Memorial of Bl. Jane Aza, the mother of St.Dominic, to the Solemnity of St. Dominic, relics of St. Dominic will be reposed in the sepulcher niche by the Rosary Altar at St. Vincent Ferrer for veneration.
